Providing accessibility can enrich your audience’s experience
Think back to the last live event you hosted or attended and think about the audience. How many might have needed a special accommodation in order to participate, such as a ramp to access the building, or a service animal for someone who is visually impaired. What you might not immediately see is a participant with some form of hearing loss. What is worse, someone might choose not to attend the event for fear they just would not be able to access and experience.
We want all individuals to feel welcome and know they can participate fully in a program. For the past several years
Treetop Productions has provided accessibility for the hearing-impaired community with audio and caption solutions
on a local, regional and national basis.
T-Coil Hearing Loop Systems
A small portable transmitter and a small wire running along the floor surrounding the audience allows guests with a t-coil hearing device to hear everything provided through the sound system. Being able to hear well with a t-coil hearing aid or cochlear device is inconspicuous; users do not stand out as being hard of hearing which encourages participation and inclusion. Our portable loop system allows the flexibility to setup the system wherever guests might be seated.
Open Captions
We are all familiar with Closed Captioning available on our favorite TV program, but it is Open Captioning that provides accessibility to all without requiring any effort on the participant. During University of Kansas Commencement Ceremonies, audience members have access to open captions displayed on LED screens throughout the stadium.
Open Captions can also be inconspicuously placed below a PowerPoint slide deck allowing your audience a view of both graphic as well as auditory content in real time.
